Issues & Insights Vol. 08 - No. 06

Relations among the United States, Japan, and China have experience wide swings over the past decade.  The various bilateral relationships are moving in the right direction and there is imiproved trilateral cooperation especially in the area of nontraditional security issues.  Our project on "Strategic Goals in U.S., Japan, and China Relations" has sought to enhance the likelihood of success by focusing on the fundamental concerns of the three countries and exploring ways they could work together to realize shared interests.  Most important, there are no major obstacles to building on this foundation, although lingering issues will continue to moderate the pace.
