Outlook for Indigenous Politics in the Andean Region
-
By Peter DeShazoJan 12, 2010
As a means of better understanding the outlook for indigenous politics in the Andes, the Americas Program of the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) held a conference on December 1, 2009, bringing together leading experts to discuss the cases of Bolivia, Ecuador, and Peru. The conference was divided into four panels, one on each of the three countries and a fourth providing conclusions and analysis on a regional basis. This report summarizes individual presentations given at the conference and overall conclusions regarding the outlook for indigenous politics in the Andes. It is meant to be a reference point for policymakers in government and in nongovernment organizations who deal with key issues in the region.
