Sustaining Improvements to Public Health in Ethiopia

Ethiopia has made rapid, impressive progress in rolling out basic health care to its 95 million citizens. Now it must build on these efforts by improving the quality of these services and prioritizing the hardest-to-reach, most marginalized, populations. In order to sustain the progress, the Ethiopian government—urged on by its most important external donor partner, the United States—must reconsider its authoritarian, rigid approach to governance.
