Farha Tahir

  • Farha Tahir is program coordinator and research associate for the CSIS Africa Program, where she conducts research related to U.S. strategic priorities throughout the continent. Her current research projects focus on overcoming barriers to investment in Africa and U.S. health partnerships. She has also worked as a research associate in the CSIS Program on Crisis, Conflict, and Cooperation and as a research intern for the CSIS Commission on Smart Power. Since joining CSIS in 2010, she has coauthored several pieces on topics ranging from health and development to governance and security. Ms. Tahir completed her graduate work in international public affairs at the University of Wisconsin, where she studied the interaction between governance and aid effectiveness and its effects on social, political, economic, and institutional development. She also holds a B.A. in political science and history from the University of Wisconsin, where she cofounded EDGE Project (Empowerment through Development and Gender Equality), an organization that creates and implements community development projects in Lingira, Uganda.
