Jeffrey D. Bean

  • Jeffrey D. Bean is a research assistant with the Freeman Chair in China Studies at CSIS, where he manages projects that focus on Asian regional cooperation and U.S. foreign policy in Asia. His current work centers on developing greater regional collaboration among Asian states in response to nontraditional and transnational security threats. Previously, he worked as project coordinator for the CSIS Smart Power Initiative and as a research intern in the president’s office. Prior to joining CSIS, Mr. Bean taught postgraduate level conversational English and international political geography in Daejeon, South Korea. He holds a B.A. from James Madison University, with majors in international affairs and political science and a minor in economics. He also spent a year on fellowship in the United Kingdom at the University of Oxford, Christ Church College, studying international relations.
