Justine Fleischner

Justine Fleischner is a research assistant with the Post-Conflict Reconstruction (PCR) Project, where she is currently leading a project on innovation and diaspora contributions to improving public safety in conflict-prone settings. She also provides research support for PCR’s work on Afghanistan and Pakistan. Prior to joining CSIS, Ms. Fleischner completed her thesis research in Rwanda on the impact of gender-sensitive policymaking on post-conflict governance and reconciliation. She also held an internship position in Sierra Leone with Timap for Justice, a grassroots paralegal initiative, assisting paralegals with clearing the backlog of case data for a World Bank evaluation of the program. While in Sierra Leone, Ms. Fleischner was an electoral observer for the August 2007 presidential and parliamentary elections at a polling station in Freetown. She has also spent time in India and Nepal volunteering with direct service providers for survivors of human trafficking. Ms. Fleischner holds a B.A. in international studies from The City College of New York.
