Katharine Mitchell
Katharine Mitchell is a research associate in the CSIS International Security Program, where she analyzes domestic and international nuclear issues and their impact on foreign, defense, and security policy and policymaking. In May 2008, her writing and graphic design on proliferation were published in Facilitating a Dialogue among Senior-Level DoD Officials on National Security Priorities: A Methodological Note, as part of the Beyond Goldwater-Nichols project on defense reform. Prior to joining CSIS, she served two internships at the Department of State. In 2005, she worked in the Bureau of Nonproliferation on the team responsible for formulating and articulating U.S. and EU policy on Iran’s nuclear program. Two years earlier, she served in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, where she coordinated all Cooperative Threat Reduction (CTR) policy and implementation actions with the Departments of Defense and State. Ms. Mitchell holds a B.A. in government from the College of William and Mary and an M.A. in security studies from Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service.
