Mark Jansson

  • Mark Jansson is deputy director of the Project on Nuclear Issues (PONI) at CSIS. In that capacity, he is responsible for running PONI’s annual conference series, serving as the editor of its journal, developing programs and organizing events targeted for the next generation of leaders in nuclear science and policy, leading outreach efforts to young technical and policy specialists, and overseeing the project’s administrative operations. Prior to joining CSIS, Jansson worked for a U.S. Agency for International Development contractor in Central America, where he helped analyze the societal and institutional impacts resulting from rule-of-law reforms. He recently earned an M.A. in conflict resolution from Georgetown University, where his studies focused primarily on international security and politics. He also holds a graduate certificate in world religions, diplomacy, and conflict resolution from George Mason University and a B.A. in criminal justice from Roanoke College. He has several years of experience in the nonprofit and public sectors as a grant writer, liaison to foundations and major gift donors, and grant administrator.
