CSIS offers opportunities for individuals to participate in the work of the Center through various membership options. (Pictured at left former national security advisor, CSIS trustee, and counselor, Zbigniew Brzezinski speaks with at a CSIS Board of Trustees meeting.)

The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), through various membership options, offers unique opportunities for individuals to participate in the work of the Center and maintain a direct and constant connection to Washington.

The Center has three main types of membership groups: the International Councillors, the Advisory Board, and the Roundtables. Each group is exceptionally diverse and offers an opportunity for individuals to engage with the Center’s scholars and contribute to the Center’s mission in providing bi-partisan strategic insights and solutions to decision-makers.  Each group meets regularly to discuss and analyze issues that reflect the comprehensive research and analysis that CSIS produces.  Members also participate actively in the ongoing work of the Center whether it is through involvement in ongoing studies, review of programs, or by offering new ideas for future projects.

Henry KissingerThe International Councillors, chaired by Henry Kissinger (pictured at left), is the Center’s most prestigious group. This small group is composed of select business CEOs drawn from different corners of the world. The Councillors meet annually for an informal, off-the-record, and substantive dialogue about the most current and pressing issues of global concern.

The Advisory Board, cochaired by Zbigniew Brzezinski and Carla Hills (pictured in order at left), is composed of the Center’s closest friends and advisers, including both public and private sector policymakers, U.S. and international business leaders, and former senior government officials. The Advisory Board meets twice a year in Washington to discuss breaking policy issues.

The Roundtables are strategically based throughout the country and act as satellite locations for CSIS to expand its outreach and influence. These groups meet two to four times a year and are currently located in Washington, DC; Dallas, TX; San Francisco, CA; and New York, NY. The Roundtables are chaired by Bill Brock, Ray Hunt, Howard Leach, and Daniel Donahue, respectively (pictured in order above). Each Roundtable meeting provides a forum for fresh and innovative dialogue between policy leaders around the country. Roundtable members are able to access the political insights that stem from Washington and the Center’s key research priorities.

Although these three main groups are highlighted, we welcome contributions at all levels. Please note that membership with the Center begins with an annual contribution of $5,000.
