Countering the Problem of Falsified and Substandard Drugs

This event will feature an expert discussion on the findings and recommendations of The Institute of Medicine’s recently released report titled “Countering the Problem of Falsified and Substandard Drugs.”

Commissioned by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, this report raises important, indeed frightening, concerns about the quality and reliability of medicines around the world. The problem of illegitimate drugs has significant and sometimes tragic consequences in the U.S. and other developed nations, as well as in low- and middle-income countries that often have weaker capacities.

This event will include a conversation with the lead author of the study, FDA leadership, and representatives from industry and regulatory bodies.
