Despite Peru's decade-long economic boom, popular dissatisfaction dominates the current political scene. This year, Peruvian president Ollanta Humala has seen a rapid decline in his popularity.  In September, his approval rating stood at 27 percent - down 27 percentage points from March.  And while President Humala continues efforts to diversify the economy - he recently met with New Zealand's prime minister to explore areas of cooperation in education and science and technology - much of the country's growth continues to derive from its natural resource wealth.  In addition, popular dissatisfaction has played out with many of President Humala's predecessors, who saw their popularity plummet after taking office.  For recent administrations, the overriding challenge has been to implement policies that allow the country to transit from economic growth to development.  To discuss why this has proved elusive in Peru - and a new policy agenda to foster inclusive growth and development - the CSIS Americas Program is pleased to welcome Julio Guzman, Partner at Deloitte and head of its public sector practice in Peru.  Join us for this timely and informative discussion.

Open to the public; however, seating is limited.  To RSVP, send name and affiliation to the Americas Program at americas@csis.org
