PONI Live Debate- If Failure in Iran, Then What?

March 25, 2015 • 9:30 – 11:30 pm EDT

"Resolved: If Iran fails to make an agreement with the P5+1, immediate action should be taken against them."

Featuring:

Dr. Matthew Kroenig
Associate Professor and International Relations Field Chair, Georgetown University

Dr. Ted Galen Carpenter
Senior Fellow, Defense and Foreign Policy Studies, Cato Institute

The Project on Nuclear Issues (PONI) is pleased to invite you to a live debate on whether the P5+1 should take immediate action against Iran if no agreement is reached during negotiations. Since a temporary accord was reached in November 2013, Iran, the United States, France, Germany, Russia, China and Britain have been engaged in negotiations aimed at curbing Iran's pursuit of a nuclear program. The negotiations have been extended twice and the most recent extension promised a political agreement by March and a comprehensive deal by June 30. What should the P5+1 do if no agreement is reached by the end of June? Dr. Matthew Kroenig and Dr. Ted Galen Carpenter will debate this issue at the next PONI Live Debate.

The event will be held in the Second Floor Hess Room at CSIS. A reception will begin at 5:30 pm, followed by the debate from 6:00 to 7:30 pm.
